1940's
In 1946 the Young family started Maple Grove on the edge of Big Lake. The Young's still own almost 1000 acres in this area. They ran the cottages until the early 1970's when it was sold to an American from Ohio.

Dear Ted & Estelle;
Just read the 1940's part of your Blog on Maple Grove Cottages & thought I should let you know that My Grandparents, Digby & Helena Young built the resort & ran it from 1945 to 1973 before selling it to The Bells from Washington DC......You may have gotten my Moms origins mixed up here.....She was from Marrietta, Ohio & met my Dad when she stayed at Maple Grove in 1953.
Glad to have been able to contribute to the history of your resort.
